About SIND
We believe that joint efforts are required to attain a sustainable development in society. We are convinced that this demands of each industry, including the insurance and financial industry, that it accepts responsibility for, and initiates, cooperation and development of a sustainable society. Adopting a sustainable perspective on development means promoting cooperation across sectors, taking an international perspective and taking into account the economic, ecological and social dimensions.
SIND – Sustainable Insurance and Finance Development is an arena for cross-sectoral initiatives where we use the social medium of the blog, seminars and workshops to facilitate dialogue between researchers, decision makers and opinion builders in matters associated with the insurance and financial industry.
Our vision is to get the insurance and financial industry to involve itself to a greater degree in sustainable development. We do this by using the blog, seminars and workshops to inspire and motivate cooperation with other players in society, and by taking an international perspective and raising social, economic and ecological questions related to the industry’s subject area.
Together with researchers, we will initiate seminars and workshops on issues and subjects which have been raised on the blog. The purpose is to create dialogue between academia, the insurance and financial industry and other players in society, which in the longer term can result in concrete cooperation to the benefit of all parties.
The aim is to raise the insurance and financial debate from the product level to the macro level, to scrutinize, reflect and question existing structures and thus place these questions on the political agenda. We will also take an international perspective and in doing so contribute with an exchange of know-how and experience between countries.
CSR- Corporate Social Responsibility, climate adaptation, power structures, welfare and public-private partnerships (PPP) are some of the subject areas which will be addressed.
